Based in Adelaide, South Australia, Cogen Microsystems is well established and very successful in the research, design and development of new energy technologies, and is now entering an exciting growth phase with the launch of its first product.

Due to this growth of the company the need for an additional Senior Electronics Design Engineer has arisen for a person having the ability to handle sophisticated engineering design and analysis work in a competitive commercial environment.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, your role will involve:

  • Performing key, high level engineering analysis and design activities in a diverse range of electronic, both analogue and digital, and electromechanical design projects;
  • Performing analysis and design optimisation from first principles, including circuit analysis, electromagnetic systems, control systems, electro-optics, and energy conversion systems;
  • Systems design of complex electronics,  and electromechanical systems;
  • Embedded micro controller design and software development;
  • Hands-on work including PCB design and prototype assembly and testing;
  • Generating design concepts, capturing intellectual property and managing appropriate IP protection activities;
  • Performing system requirement reviews and generating system specifications;
  • Making all key design decisions on projects managed;
  • Managing the key technical project stage gates such as system requirement reviews, design reviews and prototype testing;
  • Preparing technical reports, specifically for consulting projects such as design reviews, investigations of failures, concept design, feasibility studies and systems analysis;
  • Developing and maintaining internal design tools such as compilers, data acquisition systems, circuit analysis and PCB design software and other design and analysis software.

It is anticipated that applicants will have higher level tertiary qualifications in Electronic Engineering or a similar discipline, along with extensive technical design experience in a commercial R&D environment.  Applicants with an Associate Diploma or equivalent with an extensive demonstrable track record of electronics design are also encouraged to apply.  The ideal applicant will also have good mechanical aptitude and strong IT skills. A minimum of seven years of relevant experience is required.  RF and high speed digital experience will be highly regarded.  You must be a strong team player and will be comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary project team.

To be eligible for this position you will have higher level tertiary qualifications in Electronics Engineering or a similar discipline, along with design experience in a commercial R&D environment.  You will also have a valid visa for work in Australia or be an Australian citizen.
